Sergio Galvez

Sergio was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala. In 1994, Sergio began coaching at Capital Gymnastics and now is co-owner of Capital Gymnastics NTC.  Sergio has been named the Tumbling National Team Coach and Tumbling Coach of the Year a number of times. He is the Head Coach of our Power Tumbling Team and assists with the girls team when needed. His degree is from George Mason University in Biology and Psychology. He lists his reasons for becoming a coach as "I enjoy dealing with kids and became a coach through climbing the ladder of knowledge in the sport." Sergio lists his hobbies as; sports, working out and cars.

Tatiana Perskaia

Tatiana was born in Poltava, Ukraine. In 1970 and 1973 she was the All-Around Champion of the Ukraine and in 1985 her student, Oksana Omelianchik, became the All-Around World Champion. Tatiana earned the titles of "Distinguished Coach of Ukraine" and "Distinguished Coach oh the Soviet Union." Tatiana was hired as the Women's Head Coach at Capital Gymnastics National Training Center in 1992. She presently coaches levels 7 through Elite. At the 2001 World Championships, Katie Heenan was the bronze medalist on the Uneven Bars, an Elite gymnast under the instruction of Tatiana and her Elite coaching staff.  Tatiana and her coaching staff also coached World Champion Katie Heenan and World Champion on Beam, Ashley Postell (2002).  Among her many amazing coaching titles, Tatiana is Head Coach at Capital Gymnastics NTC, an International Brevet Judge and is on the USA Gymnastics Women's National Team Coaching Staff. 

 

Victor Vetrov

Victor has been on the coaching staff for Capital for the past 17 years. He coaches team levels 7 through Elite. He was born in the Ukraine and attended the National University of Ukraine where he graduated with Master of Arts in Music. Victor is part of the National Team Staff along with his wife Tatiana Perskaia, the women's head coach at Capital Gymnastics National Training Center.  Victor trained world champions Ashley Postell and Katie Heenan.

Victor enjoys playing the drums and listening to jazz music. Victor was a drummer in the Orchestra of the Russian Circus. He was recruited as a spotter and trainer of acrobats which led him to his interest in gymnastics and training, coaching for over 20 years. At the gym, Victor is known as the #1 Washington's Redskins fan.

Tish Decoud

Tish was born in Paraguay. She has been coaching for 12 years at Capital Gymnastics. Tish coaches recreational, and level 3 and 4 of the competitive team. Tish attended George Mason University. Tish's hobbies include hanging out with family and friends as well as being a Washington Redskins' fan.

Oleksandr (Alex) Vorobyov

Alex was born in Zaporizhia, a province of the Ukraine. He began working for Capital Gymnastics National Training Center in May of 2001 and currently works with both our Boys & Girls competitive gymnasts. Alex obtained a bachelor's degree from the University of Ukraine. From 1980 - 1990, he was a team member of the Ukraine, USSR Master of Sports of International Class. In addition, from 1998 - 2001, he was the Head Coach of the Ukrainian Mens Gym Team. Outside of the gym, Alex enjoys sitting at the end of a fishing rod.

 

Marina Gerisamova

Marina joined Capital Gymnastics in 1994, having coached since 1981.  Originally from the Ukraine, Marina attended the Kiev Institute of Sport and Physical Culture, graduating in 1981.  From 1981 to 1994, Marina was with the Ukraine National Team until moving to the US to join the Capital Gymnastics coaching staff.  Marina trains Level 7 to Elite.  She is married - her husband was a professional volleyball player, and has two boys, also athletes who enjoy volleyball, tennis and swimming.  Marina loves to travel, read books, especially about history, enjoys art museums and of course, spending time with her family.

Stephen Scheinman

Steve began working for Capital Gymnastics National Training Center as a boy's coach in 1990. Currently he works with Levels 3, 4, 6 and the Boys Pre-Team. He competed in gymnastics for the University of Michigan from 1980-1984. After graduating and earning his Bachelor's Degree, he began coaching boys in Northern Virginia.  Steve coached Olympian Justin Spring.
